A clerk's copy (text and signature in the hand of an amanuensis) of a letter from Broadley, 4pp, 63, Bryanston Street, Portman Square, 3 September 1887. To Herbert Eaton, asking him to support the granting of a license for the Empire Theatre which "Harris & I are anxious to open as a music hall under the auspices of a powerful syndicate." He explains how the "Alhambra people" are frustrating efforts to open the theater and how he "would think the names of Harris & Edwardes -- two of the most successful managers in London would be a sufficient guarantee as to the manner in which the new venture would be carried on." A trifle chipped and worn, but in very good state.

Alex Meyrick Broadley (1847-1916); English lawyer, author, collector. (Item ID: 9039)
