Autograph letter signed, one page, 8vo, Hunmanby, 30 July, no year. To an unidentified gentleman: "Accept my best thanks for Mr. Collins' welcome little Volume, and convey them (if you please) to the elegant Writer. Independently of this interest, which my morbid taste induces me to attach to unpublished works, I find in this enough to justify praise.... I was pleased with what I saw of Mr. L. the bearer of the production in question, & doubt not that he will do very well. We do not form our estimate by a very high standard.... A thorough acquaintance with the old & new testaments, and a moderate familiarity with Latin & Greek... are, I feel assured, already in the list of your friend's attainments.'' In very good condition. Neatly tipped to a leaf from an album.

Francis Wrangham (1769-1842) was a classical scholar and miscellaneous writer. He collected together a remarkable library, "which contained in 1825 no fewer than fifteen thousand volumes.'' (Item ID: 4800)
