2 autograph letters signed, 5 1/4pp, 8vo (thickly bordered mourning paper) and 12mo, Garden City, Long Island, and printed letterhead of 125 East 35th Street, 20 March n.y. (though apparently docketed by the recipient, presumably indicating date of response, "3.27.93") and 26 April n.y. To Mr. Stoddard, concerning literary submissions: "The story of which I spoke to you . . . is finished. Shall I send it to you? I sent you last Sept. . . . a photograph as you requested. Did you receive it?"; and "I regret not seeing you yesterday. . . . I should be very glad to have a talk with you. I have been too much occupied with other matters to do anything about the Seventh Commandment paper. If you still think you would like to use it, I will put it in shape for the length you want & send it to you. . . . I have had an offer from a publisher for the novelette I am writing, who is anxious to bring it out in paper -- but I will do nothing about it until I see you. . . ." Creased; very minor soiling; else very good.

Miriam Coles Harris (1824-1925); American novelist, author of the best-selling gothic romance, Rutledge. (Item ID: 23052)
