2 typed letters signed, 2pp, 4to, Montagu House, Whitehall, 10 February & 7 March 1938. Both letters are to Raymond Anderson at Messrs. Cassell & Co., on literary matters. In the earlier, he returns some proofs he has corrected to remove a doubtful sentence, and has taken out "the only points which could have identified the man in question. I have also omitted his name at a later point.'' In the latter, Wolfe writes that: "I saw Sir Hugh Walpole the other evening, and he told me that he was again assisting the book Society in their choice. . . . I think it would be a good thing to send him, if you could get one, a page proof of The Upward Anguish, as soon as one is available. . . . I had asked Mr. Desmond Flower to send a copy to the Book Society, and I think that should go in any case.'' A little worn and dust-soiled, otherwise very good. (Item ID: 2277)
