Autograph letter signed ("Abr Cooper"), 1 1/2pp, 8vo (on letterhead monogrammed with his initials in red ink), Woodbine Cottage, East Greenwich, n.d. (but annotated in an unidentified contemporary hand 4 October 1867). To J. Hogarth, concerning "the Lawrence collection": "I never heard that Mr. M A Shee had so expressed himself. . . . I believe that Woodburn . . . had a portion which of course rendered the collection incomplete. I perfectly recollect Sir Thomas allowing me to take some of them. . . . Sir Thomas was always a kind and good friend and being so I was the first person his Servants informed of his melancholy Death and requested my advice how they were to act." A little soiled and worn; folds; remains of prior mounting on verso, else good. Together with a signed sheet ("Ab Cooper"), one page, approximately 6 3/4" X 3 1/2", 19 New Millman Street, London, 5 August, n.y., stating the price of a painting entitled "Black Cock Shooting on the Lewisburne." Mounted to a backing sheet; left edge thin; but good.
