Autograph letter signed (signed on the integral leaf "Yours prematurely G.A. a.B.eckett.", the name being written vertically, one letter per line, and with the annotation "Observe the signature"), 3pp (sparsely written), 8vo, n.p., "Monday", n.d. Mark Lemon (1809-1870); English author, first Editor of "Punch", a lifelong friend of Charles Dickens. It is possible that the collaboration referred to in this letter was George Cruikshank's Table-Book, Published at the Punch Office London 1845. Edited by A Beckett, the Table-Book was comprised of a number of sketches and verses, mostly humorous in content, by William Makepeace Thackeray (as "Michael Angelo Titmarsh"), Mark Lemon, the editor, et al., and illustrated by Cruikshank.
