Carte-de-visite photograph. A 3/4 length portrait of Lemon shown in left profile. He is seated at a desk or table. His right elbow and left hand rest on the table, and his right hand is raised up to touch his chin. Imprint of D. Everest, Portrait & Landscape Photographer, 10 Mount Ephraim Terrace, Tunbridge Wells, D. Everest's Stationery, Music & Fancy Warehouse, Parade on the verso and with their blindstamp beneath the image. Mount browned, image with a few tiny marks and some slight oxidization, still in near-fine condition overall.

Mark Lemon (1809-1870); English author, first Editor of Punch, a lifelong friend of Charles Dickens. In 1849 Lemon adapted The Haunted Man for the stage, and in 1851 he collaborated with Dickens in the farce, Mr. Nightingale's Diary.
