Typed letter signed, one page, 4to, on printed letterhead of Pradelles. Les Arques, Par Cazals, Lot, France (letterhead is "reversible," with the verso bearing the printed address of 31, Drummond Place, Edinburgh, 3), 20 May 1968. To Mrs Oliver, replying that he ". . . shall be only too glad to contribute a short piece about Oliver Onions. I have just sent Chatto's a few words for their republication of In Accordance with the Evidence. I always remember with gratitude your kind letter to me about Rogues and Vagabonds. I am . . . glad to hear that a biography is to be written." Creases; else very good.

[George] Oliver Onions (1873-1961) English novelist, short story writer, and illustrator, married to the prolific novelist, Berta Ruck. Onions contributed stories to many Edwardian periodicals, including "Country Life". In 1918, he changed his name to "George Oliver". (Item ID: 18871)
