2 typed letters signed (one apparently with a secretarial signature) and an autograph letter signed, 3pp, 4to, 1821 15th Avenue, San Francisco, California, n.p., and 171 Avenue Victor Hugo, Paris, 24 May 1950, 27 January 1952, and 18 June 1959. Business letters to C.T. O'Leary and A. Abbott Van Nostrand of the theatrical publishers, Samuel French Company, concerning his works: "[24 May 1950] I am returning herewith [no longer present] the contracts covering Don't Go Away Mad and Hello Out There. . . . Two copies each of The Son and A Western Awakening (formerly Afton Water) will reach you within the next week. . . . Perhaps we do not have an agreement covering my one-act play, Once Around the Block. . . . The producers of the play are The Abbe Workshop Players of Riverside Drive. . . . I do not know if they charge admission. If they do, I imagine they will wish to pay a fee, and I would like you to look into this on my behalf. I would also like this play to be considered by you for a deal. . . . My position and policy is . . . to keep my business with one firm, provided the firm manages my business effectively. . . . I believe you will find The Son and A Western Awakening valuable properties. . . ."; "[18 June 1959] [T]his is to say that it is okay with me for the people in Australia to do an amateur production of THE CAVE DWELLERS. . . . Of course, these permissions are amateur and non-exclusive. . . . [I]f a professional interest comes along, we could proceed with that as well. I have already written directly to the people in Praetoria, South Africa and told them to proceed with their plans to produce this play." Staple holes and some soiling, one TLS with a piece of blank upper margin torn away, ALS heavily crossed through (though still quite legible) with pencil scribblings and ink annotations including a red stamp "Write. Send With Bill". Good. (Item ID: 16779)
