Autograph letter signed, 2pp, 8vo, 25 West 49th Street, 6 December 1929. To the publisher, [Crosby] Gaige: "It is difficult to say at what point one can swop sentiment for cash and I find myself perplexed to put a price on the six duplicates. You'd better do without them, because I don't want them to go . . . for less than five hundred dollars, which is of course much in excess of anything you suggested and which . . . represent[s] sentimental value to me in great measure. I shall look you out an interesting Masefield [?] letter & I shall take all these back without regret except that I am not able to give then to you for nothing -- which I should like to do; a little return for all your kindness. The Masefield letter shall be a New Year card. . . ." Starting at folds, some soiling, small split at upper margin; good. (Item ID: 16437)
