Carte-de-visite photograph. A portrait of Hale viewed from the waist up, wearing a dark suit and long cloak. He has a sheaf of papers in his right hand, and he looks engagingly at the viewer directly. Imprint (on the verso of the mount) of Black, 173 Washington Street, Boston. Corners rounded, image lightly scuffed and with a few scratches; some fading, else good.
